THE GOALS

  • Become an effective instrument to contribute to development based on eco-friendly, pro-poor and gender equity requirement.

  • Undertake and promote relevant education, research, innovations and extension activities.
  • Blossom into an advanced Institute of education, research, consultancy and technological innovations with a reservoir of expertise and experience in its relevant fields, and the necessary capability to harness multi-disciplinary and interrelated research and studies for the benefit of humanity.
  • Act as a technological brain-trust, a trouble shooter, a long term planner and become a partner in progress from concept to complementation - and beyond.
  • Serve the cause of development by offering expert services, almost totally and comprehensively in all the five fundamental fields viz. water, power, agriculture, industry, and human resource on which the edifice of development rests.
  • Harness and foster the vast and varied experiences that India has gained in the broad fields and to build on it and expand the horizons of knowledge.
  • Contribute to the effort of ushering India to be in the forefront in the advanced technologies and build ‘core competence’ in specific areas.

THE STRATEGY 

The strategy to fulfill the objectives and achieve the goals is to formulate a Ten-Year Perspective Plan covering the period 2017-2027 to further actualise the goals.  The Perspective Plan follow a 3-phased action strategy: Phase-I, the impact phase will cover the period 2017-2022; Phase-II, the metamorphosis, will cover the period 2022-2025 and Phase-III, the directional phase, will cover the period 2025-2027 and lay the foundation for futuristic perspectives for the ensuring decade.  The Perspective Plan has been delineated in terms of projects, schemes and programmes envisaged for the period.


FUNDING 
It is expected that the financial resources will come not only from the normal sources of State and Central Governments and other Organisations, donations, international funding but also that there will be fair amount of self-generated finances.  A Corpus Fund of adequate size will be generated. 


THE ACTION

Action involves initiating measures to develop the envisioned nucleus and strengthening it with competent faculty and other human resources, labs, equipment, library and pedagogic and research capabilities that can achieve the goals laid down.

The envisioned nucleus will blossom in to an Institute of excellence in Sciences, Social Sciences, humanities and engineering and technology.


COLLABORATION

JNIAS would enter into collaboration with Universities, Institutes and Research Organisations for undertaking joint research and studies, consultancy and other academic activities and for sharing of facilities.


ASSOCIATION OF EXPERTS

JNIAS will invite eminent scientists, academicians and other experts to be associated with it as honorary and visiting faculty to offer advice and guidance in research and studies in the concerned disciplines.


ADVISORY CONCILS

There is a Main Advisory Council for the DSRF and JNIAS to steer their activities. There are eminent people represented in this Council and Dr.D.Swaminadhan, Former Member of the Planning Commission, Govt. of India and the President of the Institute chairs it. In addition, there are four advisory Councils for JNIAS, namely (I) Advisory Council for Education and Research (ii) Advisory Council for Social Action (iii) Advisory Council for Innovation and Transfer of Technology (iv) Advisory Council for Computer and Library Information System.


RECOGNITION BY UNIVERSITIES

  • Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH), recognized JNIAS as an Advanced Research Institute  for offering Ph.D., P.G, P.G Diploma and Training Programmes in certain disciplines of  Sciences, Engineering & Technology
  • Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur (JNTUA), Anantapur recognized JNIAS as an Advanced Research Institute for offering Ph.D., P.G, P.G Diploma and Training Programmes in certain disciplines of  Sciences, Engineering & Technology.
  • Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture & Fine Arts University (JNA&FAU), Hyderabad approved for undertaking collaborative Programmes for Ph.D., P.G., P.G. Diploma and Training in Architecture and Planning and Fine Arts.

APPROVAL BY COA
Approved by the Council of Architecture (COA), New Delhi, the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture & Fine Arts University (JNA&FAU), Hyderabad for affiliation to offer 5 year full time B.Arch course.

The Council of Architecture (COA), New Delhi has approved a 2 year full time M.Arch (Construction management) Course in School of Planning & Architecture (SPA) of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Advanced Studies (JNIAS).


RECOGNITION BY UGC

Recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) Under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act.
